Tuesday Writing Tip #3 (This will be a weekly feature. Check back next Tuesday for tip #4) Missed tips #1 and #2? You can find them HERE and HERE Oh, my goodness! I love her! Have you read any of her quotes? If not, I suggest you do. She's awesome. She is by far one of my favorite authors to quote. But back to this particular quote and the advice one would give to new writers... Though I do think Dorothy makes a pretty prophetic statement here (cracks me up every time I read it), I don't completely agree. Yes, writing it hard. Yes, it's a lot of work. Yes, it's going to take patience and time. But to this I say, PERFECT. Would we want it any other way? Heck no.
Nothing worth having ever comes easy. It's the same thing with writing. It won't come easy--not for the majority of us, anyway--and that's quite alright. We will appreciate our accomplishments even more because we have fought hard to achieve them. So to new writers, I say first: Don't give up. Keep going. If this is something you want, then fantastic. There is plenty of room here for new writers to join. All the better, in fact. And second: Enjoy the journey. There will be ups and there will be downs, but that's simply the way this game goes. Work hard. Study hard--always find ways to learn and improve your craft--and don't let anyone tell you that it's impossible or that you can't do it. You can... if you want it bad enough. What would your advice to new writers be? Please leave a comment below. Let me know you stopped by.
