Success as a whole is a HUGE thing to tackle all at once. It's better to take baby steps. How do you eat an elephant? The answer: one bite at a time. That's how we should approach our goals as well. What is your long term goal? Publish your novel, perhaps? Finish your first draft? Build your social platform? Write a blog? Then break it down into bite-sized chunks. To look at the whole elephant would make anyone give up before they even begin. To look at what you can do TODAY to move you one step closer is far more manageable. Maybe all you can do today is write one paragraph. Did it move you forward? Of course it did! That counts. Maybe it was to send out one tweet. That counts too. But whatever it is, keep doing it. Every day. 365 days of the year. By conditioning yourself to do something, ANYTHING, every single day will help create momentum and as you create momentum, then it will become easier and easier each day. You will crave the feeling of accomplishing something worthwhile that moves you one step closer to your goal--to your dream.
So what can you do to get started? First: what is it you want to accomplish? Write it down somewhere and then post it where you can see it. Second: Start. It's that simple. Here's a couple of things you can do today: Write a short blog about what you want to achieve. Post something on your facebook fan page (and maybe even your personal page) about your goal. Ask friends and family to support you and encourage you. Write a paragraph or a page or a chapter--write something. Create an outline for your project. Use Pinterest to create a board about your characters, your scene, your place setting. Create a twitter account if you don't have one. Write your first tweet. Introduce yourself. So what have YOU done today to move yourself one step closer to your dream? Tell me yours, and I will tell you mine :)

I really appreciate your ability to simplify a process that so many people ( myself included) tend to overthink. You hear this sort of thing so often about breaking down your goals and taking steps to get there but it can be challenging for someone like me who overanalyzes everything; it becomes empowering and motivating when you take ANY action and not just talk or think about doing so. Thank you for reminding me of the power this can have in every area of out lives!
