RDP Tuesday - "Luxurious"

LUXURY REDEFINED
Nothing here is extravagant.
No marble halls,
no chandeliers.

Only this:
my partner’s hand in mine,
my children’s voices calling on the phone,
work that matters,
friends who stay,
a home that welcomes all,
family close enough to gather,
tea warming my palms,
audible stories in my ears,
​paddleboarding on lakes,
dancing music in the background,
sunlight on my face.
​
And the sudden understanding
that luxury was never the noise of abundance--
it was always this quiet wealth
of simple things
refusing to be ordinary.

                                                                                                                   THAT is luxurious to me.
