Do Dreams Really Come True?

In the reflection of the glass, I see the world I had dreamed of my entire life – the big city where aspirations come true. Except mine, apparently. How many auditions can one girl be turned down for? Seriously. I mean, give me a non-speaking, stand in the corner, and open the door part. Heavens, I’d take that! Let my higher education not go to waste! But no, I need to go inside and start serving tables. I sigh and head toward the door. My phone pings, the screen brightens, and I read, “Congrats! Second call backs for Chicago’s Roxie Hart!”

She might be still dreaming…lol! This piece has an authentic, ‘from the diary of’ a star wanna-be feel and I love a one step, closer to a happy ending, ending.

Angela, I like how you explored her rationales for failure -- and then shattered them. Good story.

Dear Angela,

I could feel her heart start to pound at the end. Nice and hopeful.

Ooh, I hope that's the beginning of great things for her, but you're never too good to wait tables, maybe she'll learn that somewhere on the road.
